Travel to Cancun

Travel to Cancun on a direct flight from Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisbon with Iberojet and discover a destination with miles of white sand, crystal-clear waters, sunshine, and margaritas. A perfect combination to start your vacation in Cancun. But in this paradise, you will find much more than sun and beach. You can explore the Mayan world and its culture. You will also enjoy its landscape, flora with thousands of exotic flowers, and fascinating fauna.

More Than Just Sun and Beach

Just four decades ago, Cancun was an unknown deserted island. Today, this region, located in the northeast of the Yucatan Peninsula (in the state of Quintana Roo), is the quintessential Mexican destination.

Located in a strategic spot, Cancun is the main gateway to the Caribbean and Mayan culture. You can find numerous historical archaeological sites in the surroundings, including the 'El Rey' ruins in Cancun's most touristy area. During your trip to Cancun, you can also visit museums about the ancient Mayan civilization, where you can learn all about the region's history.

Nature is another highlight of Cancun. From Cancun, you can take a ferry to Isla Mujeres, a paradisiacal and almost deserted place. There, you can visit the Garrafon Natural Reef Park or enjoy a fantastic day on one of its beaches.

What to Do in Cancun

ARCHAEOLOGY OF CANCUN

You can find remnants of the ancient Mayan civilization throughout the Yucatan Peninsula. During your trip to Cancun, you shouldn't miss places like 'El Rey,' known as the Maya playground; 'El Meco,' an archaeological site featuring a 12-meter-high Mayan pyramid; and the Cancun Maya Museum, where you can learn all about Mayan history and see their relics.

THE BEACHES OF CANCUN

Playa Langosta is a favorite among Cancun residents. With its shallow waters, it's perfect for a family day out. Playa Tortugas, one of the most well-known beaches in Cancun, offers a festive and lively atmosphere for all tastes. Playa Delfines is the perfect place to escape the world, a beach with no nearby hotels where you can enjoy a tranquil day.

THE SEA OF CANCUN

In the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, you can swim, dive, and even interact with beautiful tropical marine species such as the whale shark. The diving depths in Cancun range from about 12 meters near the coast to 26 meters in open water. During your trip to Cancun, you can dive among beautiful coral reefs or in some of its incredible cenotes. If you love the sand, Cancun has more than 22 kilometers of white sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters.

SHOPPING IN CANCUN

After flying to Cancun, you can spend a perfect day shopping. Coral Negro Market, Forum By The Sea Shopping Mall, and La Fiesta Market are some of the recommended places to visit.

CANCUN AND ITS NATURE

Visiting Bird Island and helping scientists preserve the local flamingo population can be a great experience during your Cancun vacation. You can also venture into the jungle to discover the area's surprising biodiversity.

ISLA MUJERES

This island, just 8 kilometers long, is a must-visit during your trip to Cancun. You can reach it by ferry and enjoy its town, where you'll find shops, restaurants, and bars. But the highlights of this island are its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, abundant marine life, and beautiful reefs.

Useful Tips for Traveling to Cancun

Transit: The Mexican government’s immigration tax or departure tax is €60 ($1,100.00 pesos) and is subject to change without notice. The taxes cannot be paid with credit cards or in dollars or euros. This tax may vary throughout the year, but it usually increases at the beginning of the year, around January.

Currency: The official currency is the Mexican peso, divided into 100 centavos.
